The groin region is a natural weak point, especially in men, because in this region the spermatic cord makes its passage through the abdominal wall. It is therefore a predilection site for hernia. Scar tissue also has reduced quality and can “break” weeks, months or years after the initial procedure. These hernias are extremely disturbing for many patients, but can often be repaired easily through groin and incisional hernia surgery.

What to do if you have an inguinal hernia?
Is every hernia operated on using the keyhole technique?
Endoscopic methods for the treatment of hernia are excellent options. However, “classic” open surgery may offer advantages depending on the specific location and extension of the hernia. Before the specific approach can be chosen, the problem and its cause must be analyzed in detail. The decision about the technique of groin and incisional hernia surgery is always an individual one.
Is a hernia dangerous?
If you are suffering from a hernia that is not currently causing you any pain, there is no danger at this point. However, it is important that you are aware that also organs may herniate and get stuck. Such a process is called incarceration and usually associated with severe pain and should be seen as an alarm signal: see your doctor immediately.
