Parathyroid Surgery
The parathyroid gland controls calcium metabolism and therefore has a central role in bone metabolism. Overactivity of parathyroid glands leads to the development of osteoporosis. The correct function of the parathyroids can be checked with a blood test.

I'm fine after treatment of my kidney stones, so why do I need parathyroid surgery?
An overactive parathyroid gland leads to an increase in calcium levels in the blood and also in the urine because the kidney tries to get rid of this excess, which leads to kidney stones. As long as the cause (the enlarged hyper-functioning parathyroid gland) is not treated, painful episodes of kidney stones will continue to occur.
