Varicose veins are not only cosmetically disturbing, but also affect everyday life as they are responsible for “heavy” legs. In addition, varicose veins lead to slowed blood flow, which can lead to the formation of blood clots and, on the basis of these, phlebitis. These dangers can be averted through a simple procedure with a short inpatient stay – the treatment of varicose veins is tailored individually depending on the exact location of the diseased veins.

I had a deep vein thrombosis many years ago and now varicose veins have developed, does surgery make sense?
The venous return of blood to the heart occurs via a deep and a superficial venous system. In principle, one of the two systems is sufficient. If there is a pre-existing condition in the deep venous system, a precise diagnosis must be made using angiological ultrasound before interventions on the superficial system (varicose veins) can take place.
